P3.8-M weed confiscated from tourists

FIVE suspected drug couriers were arrested following a five day anti-illegal drugs operations in Mountain Province resulting to the confiscation of marijuana bricks amounting to P3.8 million.

Eleuterio Siladap Pazon, 25, of Bulacan and works as a freelance video editor, was caught in a checkpoint at Barangay Tambingan, Sabangan, Mountain Province where 10 marijuana bricks amounting to P1.1 million was confiscated from his possession.

On August 15, two local tourists were arrested at a bus terminal in Poblacion, Bontoc, carrying 10.3 kilos of marijuana amounting to P1.5 million.

The suspects were identified as Jay Farada, 22, and Joshua Bryle Delapaz, 23, both residents of Marikina City.

Two minors who are from Quezon City were taken into custody by police after they were intercepted at Sitio Paleng, Barangay, Lagan, Sabangan in the evening of August 15.

The duo were on board a passenger bus when it was flagged down by the police for inspection.

Four marijuana bricks with a dangerous drug board value of P480,000 were confiscated from their possession.

All suspects were brought to the Mountain Province Police Office (MPPO) for documentation for the filing of appropriate charges.

The Police Regional Office–Cordillera (PRO-COR) recently expressed alarm following the arrest of teenager drug couriers posing as tourist.

PRO-COR warned the public especially the parents to monitor and safeguard their children because they are easily lured by syndicates by offering or promising huge amount of money in exchange of their services as couriers.
