P4-M marijuana destroyed in Benguet

A TOTAL of P3.7 million worth of marijuana plants were destroyed by composite teams of the Kibungan Municipal Police Station (KMPS), Benguet Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (BPDEU) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Benguet in a two-day operation.

Police Colonel Lyndon Mencio, director of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, said the initial marijuana eradication operation was conducted in the morning of April 27 in Bagiw, Proper Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet.

Police found 105 fully grown marijuana plants in a 50-square meter plantation worth P21,000.

Authorities destroyed the illegal hemp by burning it on site.

Another plantation site was discovered in Proper Tacadang with a land area of 200 square meters.

Police destroyed 600 fully grown marijuana plants worth P120,000 and 10 kilos of dried marijuana plants worth P1.320 million.

On April 28, 20 more kilos of dried marijuana hidden in a semi-stone cave in Proper Tacadang, Kibungan and worth P2.4 million were also destroyed.
