Truck of pork blocked

TUBA Municipal Police Station (TMPS) intercepted a container van loaded with frozen pork products from Angeles City, Pampanga at an animal quarantine checkpoint along Salpang, Taloy Sur, Marcos Highway, Tuba, Benguet Tuesday afternoon, October 1, 2019.

TMPS Commander Police Major Jeans Acod, identified the vehicle as a Fuso Refrigerated Van-Truck registered to Jennylyn Manaloto of 20 Don Luis Panlilio Street, Villadolores, Angeles City, Pampanga and driven by Ian Bie Manzano, 34, a resident of No.182 B Grape Street, Angeles City, Pampanga.

The vehicle contained 883 kilos of frozen pork jowls and 1,980 kilos of frozen chicken quarter legs accompanied with complete travel documents.

The Office of the Governor issued a memorandum declaring a temporary ban on the entry of pigs, fresh and frozen pork, and pork products within the Province of Benguet in relation to the African Swine Fever (ASF).

The vehicle loaded with frozen pork and chicken was temporarily held at Animal Quarantine Checkpoint subject for validation.

Acod added that the truck was escorted back to Pugo, La Union after the validation to which it was handed over to the Pugo Municipal Police Station (PMPS) who accompanied the truck back to its point of origin in Pampanga Province.
