Vendor shot dead in market

A VENDOR was shot dead at the Baguio City Public Market by unidentified men in the early morning of November 4.

A report by the Baguio City Police Office Station 2 identified the victim as Freddie del Rosario Lonez Sr., 49, married, and a resident of No. 135 Padre Zamora.

Police said the victim arrived home from Legarda Road at around 1:54 a.m. and texted his wife to throw the key to their gate out of the window.

After a few minutes, the wife of the victim identified as Mardie Lonez heard several gunshots. When she checked, she saw her husband lying on the ground with his head bloodied.

The Scene Of the Crime Operatives (Soco) team led by Police Chief Inspector Juliet Albion processed the crime scene and recovered one cellphone, four fired cartridge cases and one fired bullet.

Police scoured the area for the attackers. A closed-circuit television (CCTV) will be reviewed as part of the investigation.

Meanwhile, a hacking incident transpired in the evening of All Saints’ Day in Navy Base.

The victim was identified as Martin Brando Punzalan Custudio, 18, and a resident at # 197 Purok 6 Navy Base, Saint Joseph Village Barangay.

The victim had gone to the house of his uncle, identified as Gammy Punzalan, for a drinking session.

A group of men, including the suspect identified as Edgar Bobis Marquez, 58, were also having drinks. The victim and the suspect had an argument that led to the hacking incident.

The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment. (Jonathan Llanes)
