Sungduan: Anti-Covid efforts

EXPECT more help will be provided to communities in the northwestern area of Luzon worse affected by Covid-19.

This was according to Rotary International District 3790 Governor Jesus “Jess” Sama, who said the Rotary Foundation has a lot of funds mostly for anti-Covid-related projects.

“We are doing our best. Just like any organization, we are also affected by the pandemic, but we are doing our best to help. We have a lot of funds under the Rotary Foundation for anti-Covid-related projects,” Sama said.

He added that Rotary Clubs should avail of this grant, which can be approved within 48 hours to help them with their continuous projects needed for this pandemic situation.

Sama said that Rotary Clubs under RI District 3790 covering Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, Bataan and Mountain Province have been doing a lot of Covid-related efforts since the lockdown started.

“During the lockdown, Rotarians are not confined at homes. They are going out donating PPEs (personal protective equipment), giving groceries. That is what Rotary is, service above self,” he added.

The clubs under his district have been donating personal protective equipment to hospitals, schools, municipal and provincial local government units and barangays. Groceries were also provided to the community in need.

Furthermore, handwashing facilities and mobile Covid testing facilities were also constructed.

For their part, the Rotary Club of Metro Baguio donated biological safety cabinet class II A2 and 4,000 washable facemasks, 500 disposable face masks, bunny suit cover-all, and an infrared thermometer in Mountain Province.

RCMB President Jerry Chan said more anti-Covid relief efforts will be provided to frontliners in Baguio City, Cordillera Region and even in Aurora Province.

Fighting disease is one of the main causes of Rotary. With them, more communities will be given support amid the pandemic.
