Sungduan: Deep appreciation

RESIDENTS of Barangay Kadayacan, Maria Aurora, Aurora gathered together at their village gym lately to showcase their rich and unique indigenous heritage through a cultural dance presentation.

Their performance in the program was their way of expressing their gratitude and deep appreciation to the Rotary Club of Hadano Naka Japan and Rotary Club of Metro Baguio for bringing clean water to their community with more than 1,700 population and a home of the Kankanaey and Bago tribe.

Through the water system project of the two clubs covering a five-kilometer above-ground pipes, every household now has a clean and potable water from their own faucet at home. The project which is under the Global Grant No. GG1754911 was inaugurated and turned over to the barangay on February 24.

In the cultural presentation, the groups of the young generation and elders shared the importance of courtship dance known as Takik and the victory ethnic dance Ballangbang which enjoined the Rotarians to participate in the performance.

Meanwhile, President Isamu Takahasi of RC Hadano Naka lead the Rotarians from Japan and also distributed more than 400 pieces of umbrella and more than 4,000 ballpens to the students who warmly welcomed them in the program.

Water is life. The clean water provided to the residents will sustain their health and life. May the operation of this project continue to be maintained, managed, and sustained.
