All systems go for Benguet volleyball league

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- At least 32 teams are set to compete in the upcoming Volleyball Invitational League set on October 19 to November 24, 2019 in Benguet province.

Coinciding with this year’s Benguet Adivay is the tournament dubbed “Volleyball Invitational League 2019, Vice Governor Cup Season 1” with an initial participants from Benguet composed of 13 elementary schools, 13 high schools and six in the women’s open category.

Vice Governor Johnny Waguis added before the tournament started, training of volleyball players was conducted in the different Benguet towns.

“In fact they are the ones who have been requesting prior to the visits conducted in the towns. When we conducted the training, we saw the interest in the students,” Waguis said.

Waguis is optimistic the tournament will help motivate students to excel in their respective field and it will continue in the succeeding years.

The event also seeks to inspire young and adults from engaging in vices and rather indulge themselves in improving their skills.

Participants for the competition will be divided into two categories; student and open division.

The student division is composed of elementary students 12 years old and below and secondary students composed of 17 years old below. All players must be enrolled in any private and public schools in Benguet province.

For the open category, participants must be bona fide residents of the province.

The competition will be played in accordance with the rules of the International Volleyball Federation 2015-2016 edition.

Winners in their corresponding categories will receive trophies and certificates while medal and certificates will also be awarded to the most valuable players.
