Local fighters eye spot in SEAG Kickboxing

CORDILLERAN fighters are optimistic of donning the country’s national tri–color after emerging victorious in the recent Samahang Kickboxing Pilipinas SEAG tryouts on July 6 to 7 in Tagaytay for the upcoming 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

The kickboxers from Baguio and Benguet went home with 10 gold medals, five silver and bronze medals.

Brent Baniaga, Chauvin Wacdagan, Nelson Bantiyan and Janele Benzon were triumphant, bagging gold medal in the 18 years old and below while Cazzele Gatinao bagged silver with Zyra Bon-as and Jovelyn Pascual bagging bronze medals apiece.

Jean Claude Saclag led the 19 years old and below in the men’s side as Jomar Balangui struck one gold medal apiece along with Karol Maguide and Jerry Olsim, who also each received gold medal each for their performance.

Emmanuel Cantores, Carlos Alvarez and Daryle Wadasen also contributed three silver medals in the 19 years old and below.

Bronze medalists in the same age category were Brandon Cabforo, Nathan Bolcio, Richard Binolan, Eugene Ignas, and Jayson Cosme.

Ruling the women’s side in the 19 years old and below group were Rosemarie Recto and Renalyn Dacquel with their gold medals apiece while Janica Alawas bagged silver.

Saskia Fagyan won bronze medal in the 48 to 50 full contact event. (SSB)
