GCASH scan to pay service has expanded its consumer and user reach in Cagayan de Oro City, as it made partnerships with three homegrown businesses.

Bigby's Restaurant, Panagatan Seafoods Restaurant and Odyssey Airport Express have adopted GCash as a payment option, that is, transaction "without the use of money and without the need for change."

"As we aggressively expand to reach more customers, we are glad to be able to provide this service in the southern region of the Philippines. We expect that with more stores going cashless, more Filipinos will be able to experience the convenience of having everything on their device," Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu said.

With 50 percent of the Philippines' population using smartphone, and over 70 percent of the 60 million Globe customers are using smartphones, Odyssey Airport Express Corporate Secretary Cielito Christine Almirante shared how practical and convenient GCash is for the corporation and its customers.

"On the customers side, it’s easy for them to just gonna pick their phones and it’s done, paid already. For our front desk, it’s very practical and very easy for them, they don't have to do anything but just write lang sa (in the) receipt. And for our part, it’s very safe kay kabalo mi na ang among front desk walay gahawiran nga kwarta (as we know that our front desk is not carrying the money). So mag travel sila (they travel) bringing nothing. All the money goes directly to the bank. So for us it’s very convenient and very practical," Almirante said.

Bigby's General Manager Sonjie Ang, for her part, said partnering with GCash is a "great innovation which will offer our customers convenience and savings through their special promos."

With its expansion in Cagayan de Oro through partnerships, Cu said GCash is getting closer to its goal in promoting a cashless ecosystem in the country.
