Oolong tea processing center starts operations in December

THE Oolong tea processing center in Barangay Kalagonoy, Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental will start its operation next month, Provincial Agriculture Office head Apollo Pacamalan said.

“By December, mag-operate na ang planta sa Oolong tea. Nakaabot na ang mga machine pang mechanized gikan sa DTI (Department of Trade and Industry). Ug ang building ginasugdan na og himo ug hopefully by 90 days mahuman na, by first week,” Pacamalan said.

(By December, the Oolong tea processing center will start operating. The machines from DTI have arrived and the building construction has already started. Hopefully, by 90 days it will be finished around first week)

He said the P35-million Oolong tea processing center is for the massive production of the said tea which will help Oolong growers and farmers maximize their production and generate more income.

This will also boost the economic activity in the province, especially in Gingoog City. This will also help the farm tourism of Misamis Oriental for in the middle of the Oolong tea plantation is an overlooking scenic view of mountain ranges and the Macajalar Bay, Pacamalan said.

The Oolong plant is grown by Higaonon farmers living nearby.
