A STORAGE facility for seeds and farming equipment is set to be built in Misamis Oriental, the head of the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) said.

Dr. Banjamin Resma, PAO chief, said the P10-million storage facility, funded by the Department of Agriculture, will be used to store seeds/seedlings, such as corn, rice, and other seeds usually used by the farmers of the province, and farming equipment.

According to Resma, Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano has talked with the administrator of the government-run Philippine Veterans Investment Development Corp. (Phividec) to grant the province the area needed in the construction of the facility.

"Ang gihatag sa ato is almost 1,000 square meters ang gisaad sa Phividec (Phividec granted an area of almost 1,000 square meters)," Resma said.

The construction of the storage facility, Resma said, will give a huge impact to the province's farmers as establishing the facility will lessen the time consumed by the deliveries of the seeds as the current storage of seeds is located in Bukidnon.

"Usahay ang pagkuha nato ma delay kay layo, unya sakyanan... daghang mga factor ang kinanglanon but now dinhi na gyud sa atong lalawigan itukod so dili na sya problema sa ato ang storage, time sa delivery (Sometimes, there are delays when picking up of the seeds from the storage, and the vehicle... there are several factors invoved but now that the new storage will be built within the province, there will be less problems in the delivery)," the PAO chief said.

He also mentioned that the area for the facility was already validated. The construction of the storage will start in 2019, he added.
