THE Misamis Oriental Provincial Government is pushing for the establishment of a farm school to ensure sustainable food supply and more livelihood opportunities for the residents here.

Governor Yevgeny Vicente Emano said the provincial government is set to ink a partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) for free education about tradition and modern technology in farming through the farm school.

He also hopes local government units (LGUs) in the province would secure lands for the construction of farm schools.

Tesda’s farm schools are in line with the programs under President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration, intended to ensure farmers, fishers and their families gain appropriate knowledge, skills and attitude to increase their productivity.

Farm schools are advanced farms capable of offering short-term agricultural courses recognized under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system of Tesda.

The city government has already established its technical vocational school called Cagayan de Oro Technical Vocational Institute (CDO-TVI) at the old site of the Agusan National High School in Zone 2, barangay Agusan.

The school aims to level up the city government's skills training program especially for the out-of-school youths and answer the demand of skilled workers locally and internationally.
