AUTHORITIES on Monday, January 7, have seized more than half million pesos worth of suspected illegal drugs and arrested a drug suspect in Opol, Misamis Oriental.

Members of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit in Northern Mindanao and Opol anti-illegal drug operatives carried out a drug bust and caught the target identified as Edmund Pines alias "Mon."

Police said the suspect did not resist arrest compared to those who were previously killed for fighting back (nanlaban) against the operatives.

Confiscated from his possession were five sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride commonly known as shabu in different sizes weighing about 80 grams and worth around P640,000.

Seized items were brought to the crime laboratory for examination.

The suspect is now detained and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
