10 election violators arrested, firearms seized

THE joint checkpoint operations by Commission on Election (Comelec) 10 and 13, Police Regional Office-10 and 13, and the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) have caught around 10 election violators with illegal firearms.

According to military statement, in the morning of May 8, the 16th Infantry Battalion with Malitbog Municipal Police Station arrested two personalities carrying three high-powered firearms and seven low-powered firearms with assorted ammunitions at Sitio Impahanong, Barangay San Luis in Malitbog, Bukidnon.

On the same day, the 30th Infantry Battalion and Malimono Municipal Police Station Mobile Patrol intercepted three armed personalities onboard three vehicles in Barangay Binucaran in Malimono, Surigao del Norte.

Seized from them were three AR15 rifles, one caliber .45 pistol, one 9mm pistol with assorted magazines and ammunition.

The 58th Infantry Battalion, in collaboration with the Villanueva Municipal Police Station, also arrested five personalities, including two soldiers, in Barangay Katipunan, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.

The said individuals, according to the military, will be charged in court with grave threats, robbery, violation of Republic Act 10591 and Comelec gun ban violation.
