2 traffic enforcers punished for littering during Traslacion

PJ Orias

TWO members of the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) were penalized for littering while manning the traffic during the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene on Thursday, January 9, 2020.

City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (Clenro) chief engineer Armen Cuenca said the enforces were fined P500 each for leaving behind their empty cups on the sidewalk in Kiosko Kagawasan, Divisoria around 5:15 a.m.

Cuenca said the traffic enforcers, being City Hall employees, should be a role model to the public, not a law breaker.

"Nakalakaw na sila 10 meters from the area. That's the time gi-confront namo ug gi-inform namo nga naka-violate sila sa city ordinance. Nangayo sila ug pasaylo. Pasayluon man gyud, pero naay sanction nga P500 each," he said.

(They walked 10 meters from the area. That's the time when we confronted and informed them that they violated the city ordinance. They asked for forgiveness. We forgave them, but they still received a sanction of P500 each.)

Cuenca said he has endorsed the traffic enforcers' case to the office of the City Administrator for more possible sanctions.
