2,000 contact tracers needed in Northern Mindanao

Jo Ann Sablad

DEPARTMENT of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Director Arnel Agabe on Tuesday, September 15, said they are targeting to hire a total of 2,000 contact tracers in Northern Mindanao.

Agabe said the 2,000 contact tracers will be added to the existing contact tracers deployed in the five provinces and two highly urbanized cities of the region.

According to Agabe, the minimum qualification standard for applicants include college graduates of allied medical or criminology courses with skills in interviewing, health assessment, gathering data, research and documentation.

The regional director said individuals who are interested in becoming contact tracers should know how to interview Covid-19 cases as well as their close contacts to determine their travel history.

He added contact tracers will also be helping in the government's advocacy and public health education.

The contact tracers will be receiving P18,784 monthly salary.

Allocation of contact tracers per region will depend not just on the population but also on the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the area, Agabe said.
