4 siblings, mom killed in Iligan fire

FOUR siblings, who are all minor, and their mother were killed in a predawn fire inside a compound at Zone 2, Fuentes, Maria Cristina, Iligan City, Tuesday, October 30.

Authorities identified the fatalities as 35 year old Elizabeth Baricuatro, the mother and her sons Francis,14; Jethan, 9; Nathaniel, 7; and Xander, 5.

The victims died due to burn injuries and suffocation.

Initial investigation disclosed that the fire had supposedly emanated from the basement of the house occupied by the Baricuatro family.

Authorities said the basement was made of concrete materials and light materials on the upper portion of the house.

Further investigation revealed that around four adjacent houses inside the compound which are also made of light materials were also razed by fire.

Fire investigators are still determining the cause of fire and estimated damages.
