MORE than 600 kilos of pork were confiscated by the city's Anti-African Swine Fever (Anti-ASF) Task Force last Thursday, February 20, in a checkpoint in Upper Puerto, Cagayan de Oro City.

The van containing kilos of pork meat and marinated milk fish (bangus) was held and subsequently burned by the Anti-ASF Task Force and Puerto Police Station 6.

According to the driver of the meat van, their cargos, the pork and fish, came from a company in Davao City.

Authorities found out that it does not have the shipping permit from the National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS).

The confiscated 600 kilos of pork meat worth almost P300,000 were burned in Barangay Balubal, Cagayan de Oro City.

In February, several hogs in Davao City have been found to be infected with the ASF virus.

The city's Anti-ASF Task Force has intensified its measures to guard its borders by putting up Animal Quarantine Checkpoints to keep Cagayan de Oro ASF-free.
