Active Covid cases in Cagayan de Oro drop to 116

THE City Health Office reported on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, that Cagayan de Oro logged only one new case of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The relatively lower number of new cases recorded in the city in the past few weeks brought the number of active Covid cases down to 116, 16 of whom were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, and 100 were outpatients.

According to City Health Office medical officer Dr. Ted Yu, the new local index case is a 51-year-old male resident of Barangay Bugo.

The patient has hypertension and depression and is currently isolated in the hospital. The man is already vaccinated with the Covid-19 vaccine.

The cumulative number of infections in the city is now at 20,424.

Cagayan de Oro also registered six new coronavirus-positive persons who were now tagged as "recovered." This brought the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 19,457.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city remains at 851.
