Active Delta variant cases in Oro now at 8

THE number of active Delta variant cases in Cagayan de Oro City is now at eight after the city logged one new Delta case, City Health Office medical officer Dr. Teodoro Yu reported.

According to Yu, the new Delta variant case is a 30-year-old man who has a history of travel in the region of Zamboanga Peninsula due to work. He was admitted to a hospital in the said region after he tested positive for Covid-19.

Yu said the 30-year-old man was discharged after he was declared clinically recovered. He returned to Cagayan de Oro and underwent home quarantine.

However, he was transferred to the city isolation facility when his swab tested positive for the Delta variant. The City Health Office identified one close contact of the man, who was also transferred to the city isolation unit.

At present, Cagayan de Oro recorded a total of 82 Delta variant cases, eight of whom were still in the isolation facilities, 65 have negative swab test results, seven dead, and two retagged from area outside the city.
