All vaccines with EUA 'can prevent severe cases, deaths'

Jo Ann Sablad

ALL Covid-19 vaccines that were given the emergency use authority (EUA) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) can almost 100 percent prevent severe cases or deaths from occurring, City Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said.

Retuya added that there are no Covid-19 vaccine that can block transmissions at present.

"Matakdan gihapon ka pero instead nga mapadulong ka sa ngadto sa severe or kamatayon, preventahan ka na niya ang pinaka importante nga aspect sa atoang spectrum, kanang gitawag nato'ng severe cases ug ang deaths," Retuya said.

"It prevents severe cases or prevents one person to go into severe case of Covid-19 or prevents death," he added.

The city epidemiologist reminded the public that vaccination is just the fourth way in the city's strategy to fight against the Covid-19.

"Even after receiving the vaccine, you will still need to practice the minimum public health standards, which has been effective in preventing the spread of the virus," he said.
