AN AGUSANON lawmaker is urging network giant ABS-CBN to stop depicting Butuan City as bailiwick of extremism in its teleserye "A Soldier's Heart," saying it is offensive and unreal.

Agusan del Norte First District Representative Lawrence Fortun said Butuan City has never been known to be a "hub of terrorism" and a "hotbed of chaos," as shown in the first episode of the show.

"The depiction is not only unrealistic, it is offensive because it is destroying the collective efforts of the people of Butuan to promote the Home of the Balangays as a tourist destination for history and culture and a hub of opportunities," Fortun said in a statement.

"I urge ABS-CBN to immediately air an appropriate disclaimer, review and reconsider the content and story elements of the teleserye in order not to further besmirch the reputation of our historic city," he added.

To recompense, Fortun invited ABS-CBN producers to send a team to Butuan "for them to see the beauty of the city."
