THE Cagayan de Oro City Government will receive P1.5 million worth of communication packages, another P100,000 for being a recipient of the Seal of Good Education Governance once again this year.

Thirty-four cities and municipalities from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao were recognized Thursday, September 6, during the 12th National Education Summit for their outstanding efforts in improving the quality of basic education in their communities.

As a seal recipient, Cagayan de Oro City got an incentive from PLDT/Smart telecommunication company which is P1.5 million worth of communication packages, including P100,000 worth of oil from Sea Oil; playground equipment from SGV; and books from Jesse Robredo Foundation.

“I want to thank Cagayan de Oro’s Local School Board (LSB) for doing an excellent job of improving the quality of education of our public schools. Congratulations on being presented with the Seal of Good Education Award. Keep up the great work. I am proud of you,” City Mayor Moreno said in his Facebook post.

The awards body recognizes the local government’s initiative to improve the provision of a conducive place for learning among school children by investing so much on school buildings and classrooms construction.

The seal is awarded to a local government that effectively organizes all systems and processes in the delivery of basic education, making the dreams of the Filipino children come true.

Last year, there were five Mindanao awardees, which include, Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental, Bongao and Simunul in Tawi-Tawi, and Upi and Datu Paglas in Maguidanao.
