WHILE he understands the quarantine fatigue that the public has been going through, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno said on Friday, January 22, 2021, that children who are 10 years old and above are still not allowed to go out of their homes.

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has further relaxed the age-based restrictions in areas placed under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), allowing kids 10 years old and above to step out of their homes beginning February 1, 2021.

Moreno said that the city's performance in suppressing the virus should be improved first before quarantine restrictions in Cagayan de Oro will be relaxed.

"I'm sure ang IATF has still given the LGU (local government unit) the discretion kay di man na mahimo nga wala nay role ang LGU. Sunod ang atong mga health officials have a better view of the real situation," Moreno said.

"Kasabot ko, wala gyud koy problema ana pero hinay-hinay lang ta. I-improve nato ang atong performance sa pag suppress sa virus," he added.

The city mayor further said that the residents should not be regulation-focused since the government cannot regulate everything that the people do or not do.

He said the city still cannot relax its quarantine restrictions as of now as the novel coronavirus is highly infectious and the new variant is twice as infectious.

"Bisa'g moingon na na nga pwede nga molakaw tanan, if you care for your loved ones, your family, for the people, likay gyud gyapon," Moreno said.

"Dili sayon kanang puyo ka lang sa balay pero its for your protection and for the protection of the people you love," he added.
