THE community simulation of the vaccination rollout in Cagayan de Oro is set to take place on the third week of March in Barangay Macasandig covered court, Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said.

Included in the said drill is the simulated transport of Covid-19 vaccines from the pier or airport going to the central depot, to the City Health Office and finally to the specific barangay where the vaccination rollout will be conducted.

"Apil na na dinha ang mga time and motion nga mga exercises," Nery said.

According to Nery, uniformed personnel, including the Roads and Traffic Administration officers, will also take part in the simulation exercise as they will be utilized as escorts during the vaccination transport and distribution.

"Kung mahimo i-clear nato ang way nga walay ma-traffic sa atong transport system," Nery said.

Earlier this month, the City Health Office has identified 15 barangays as potential vaccination sites in Cagayan de Oro, namely: Barangays Kasuwagan, Carmen, Iponan, Canitoan and Bulua in west district; Barangays Bugo, Cugman, Lapasan, Gusa and Tablon in east district; Barangays Camaman-an, Macasandig, and Macabalan in central district; and Barangays Mambuaya and Lumbia in highland district.

However, these locations have yet to be inspected.

Nery also confirmed that the vaccination for the priority groups, the healthcare workers/frontliners and senior citizens, will be implemented in the city in July 2021.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
