Disaster exec to public: Do not panic during earthquake

PJ Orias

AN OFFICIAL of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) advised the public not to panic during an earthquake and remember to duck, cover, and hold.

Nick Jabagat, CDRRMD officer-in-charge said the public should have presence of mind and prioritize the safety of oneself.

Jabagat, who was in city hall at the time of the jolt, commended City Hall employees for evacuating the buildings calmly.

He said the evacuation was very smooth, noting that most of the employees were able to practice the duck, cover and hold.

"Paggawas na, nakita nato nga walay nag-panic, walay nag-syagit, nanggawas lang gyud," he said.

Jabagat attributed the successful and smooth evacuation to the frequent earthquake drills conducted at the city hall.

Jabagat gave the city hall employees with 8/10 rating for their response during a calamity.
