DENGUE cases in Northern Mindanao continue to go down based on the Department of Health's (DOH) weekly monitoring.

From January 1 to September 28, a total of 23,307 dengue cases are recorded, still 65 percent higher than the same period last year.

Although the number is still high, the weekly trend is going down, said Dr. Ian Christian Gonzales, cluster head of the Infectious Diseases Cluster.

Last week, the region is already below the epidemic threshold.

Bukidnon reported the highest number of cases at 8,491, followed by Misamis Oriental with 3,963 cases, Lanao del Norte with 3,204 cases, Misamis Occidental with 2,400 cases and Camiguin with 420 cases.

Cagayan de Oro has 3.087 dengue cases, while Iligan City recorded 1,742 dengue cases.

The DOH is still actively involved in the conduct of Sabayang 4-Oclock Habit para Deng-Get Out campaign, and continues to remind the public to destroy mosquito breeding sites, practice self-protection measures, seek early consultation, support fogging, and sustain hydration.
