AFTER about 60 years, former Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Emano has finally quit smoking.

Emano announced over the weekend that he stopped smoking some two months ago.

Emano said he yielded to the request of his children to quit his smoking habit.

"Hangyo sa akong mga anak nga moundang nako so ako na giundangan,"Emano said.

The erstwhile mayor said it was difficult for him to stop his decades-long habit but he said he has to endure, saying his children were only thinking of his health.

Emano has been criticized for his smoking habits in public, even while he was still in office. Emano said he started smoking at the age of 15. Now, he is 75.

"Lisod pero gi-agwanta nako," Emano said.
