Drug suspects yield P2.5-M shabu in Lanao del Norte

TWO suspected drug personalities were arrested after yielding more than P2.5 million worth of suspected illegal substances in Maranding Lala, Lanao del Norte, over the weekend.

Police identified the suspects as Erwin Madrid and Muammar Panda, both residents of Sultan Naga Dimaporo town.

Authorities said the two were in the drug list of the Directorate for Intelligence (DI).

Members of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) in Northern Mindanao and Lala town police have confiscated from Madrid five pieces of suspected shabu (Methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing around P300 grams and worth about P2 million.

Also recovered from his possession was a caliber 45 pistol and live ammunition.

Panda was arrested 45 minutes later.

Authorities seized from his possession two sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 50 grams and worth about P400,000.

The suspects are now detained at the detention facility of Lala town police and are facing drug charges.

Investigators are still looking into the illegal drug transactions and other possible drug personalities involved in the drug trade.
