MISAMIS Oriental Board Member President Elipe said Wednesday, May 1, he wants all preparations for the Kuyamis Sportsfest 2020 be put in place even this early.

Elipe, who leads the annual sportsfest as part of the Kuyamis Festival celebration, said it is important to make all necessary arrangements prepared to avoid glitches during the conduct of the sportsfest.

Elipe proposed to increase the budget for the sportsfest, add more sports events, and raise the prizes for the winners.

“Mahinungdanon nga karon pa lang daan mahisgutan na ang Kuyamis sportsfest para mahan-ay ang tanan gikan sa mga participating towns, venues, budget, ug uban pa,” Elipe said.

Elipe also wants a full participation of all towns and cities in the province.

He also added that the sportsfest is an important avenue for the youth to develop their skills and talents in sports.

“Mas maayong ma-focus ang attention sa mga kabatan-onan sa sports kaysa walay mga hinungdan nga mga aktibidades nga mohatod na hinoon kanila sa kadaot,” Elipe said.

The Kuyamis sportsfest will also be partnered with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation and SK officials from the different towns.

Elipe believed that with the partnership of the SK, a lot of things will be accomplished.

Elipe, who seeks the vice gubernatorial seat, vowed for a much improved Kuyamis sportsfest next year.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
