THE City Prosecutors Office found probable cause to charge Patrolwoman Sheryl Lou Licayan with robbery extortion after the latter was arrested by co-police officers in an entrapment operation last week.

Police Captain Rogie Ortencio, police station 1 chief, said the prosecution released its resolution on Friday, June 14, and fixed the bail amounting to P100,000 for the temporary liberty of the suspect.

Ortencio said investigators filed robbery extortion, direct bribery, estafa and graft charges against Licayan on Thursday. However, the prosecutors office denied the three other charges.

"Kung makapyansa siya makagawas siya pero kung dili i-commit siya sa (if she can post bail, she can be freed temporarily, but if she can't she will go to) city jail," Ortencio said.

Licayan was arrested after she allegedly asked P3,000 from a Non-Uniformed Personnel (NUP) applicant in exchange for the job in the regional headquarters.

However, Ortencio said the suspect initially denied the allegations and claimed that she did not receive the money.

But the police commander said there is a video footage that captured Licayan accepting the money.

Ortencio also said Licayan was on the "derogatory list" after similar complaints were lodged before the Regional Intelligence Division (RID).

He said the RID is doing a follow-up operation to determine whether Licayan has cohorts and connections in the regional headquarters.
