AUTHORITIES have rounded up some 239 people who were allegedly involved in various offenses through the police's "Oplan galugad" in Cagayan de Oro City last week.

The suspects were presented to the media at the Kiosko Kagawasan in Divisoria over the weekend.

The week-long police operation targeted persons who were wanted for different crimes, execution of search warrants, and implementation of special laws and city ordinances.

Of the 239, there were 11 being wanted for different crimes, 22 were allegedly involved in illegal drug activities, 180 were arrested for violation of city ordinances while 26 were apprehended through police response.

Police Major Evan Viñas, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), said minors rescued were processed with the intervention of the City social welfare office.

He said this is the result of the 145 police operations and the fourth round of "Oplan Galugad" in the city.

"This is in consonance with the mandates of the national headquarters and response to the marching order of regional director Brigadier General Rafael Santiago Jr.," Vinas said.

"The concept of this is to bring a message to the public that their police is performing their tasks," he added.
