Guv to mayors: Enforce environmental laws

Jo Ann Sablad

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano has urged all town mayors to intensify the campaign for environmental protection through strict enforcement of laws and regulations.

These environmental laws include the Clean Water Act, Republic Act 9003 or the Solid Waste Management Act and the Health and Sanitation Ordinance.

The call came after the Environment Management Board (EMB) recently reported the high fecal coliform levels found in Barangay Bonbon seawater and in Cagayan de Oro River.

(I don’t know how Moreno and his officials took care of Cagayan de Oro River since a lot of garbage has scattered which resulted to high fecal coliform content)

The governor worries that people might catch diseases from polluted bodies of water.
