AN INDIGENOUS Peoples’ (IP) leader was named as the regional winner for the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) Search for Outstanding Government Workers under the Presidential Lingkod Bayan.

Nena Lumandong, commonly known as “Bae Rose,” is currently working for the city government as an IP focal person.

For years, Bae Rose has been representing the many lumads residing in the hinterland villages of Cagayan de Oro City and serves as a voice to the marginalized IPs.

She has worked with other lumad leaders in the city to help bring government services to the farthest area of an IP community.

Bae Rose advocates to safeguard the biodiversity of the IP’s ancestral lands, once spoke out against the harmful use of fertilizers and chemicals in a tomato plantation in Claveria.

The search is an annual nationwide undertaking of the CSC to recognize government officials and employees who have displayed outstanding work performance.

The Presidential Lingkod Bayan is conferred to an individual or a group for exceptional or extraordinary contributions that had nationwide impact.
