PJ Orias

THE Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing Program in Caraga has declared the municipality of Madrid as drug-free.

Based on the record of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 13, all 14 barangays of Madrid have met the parameters set by the Dangerous Drug Board.

Madrid is the third town declared as drug free in Surigao del Sur province following the declaration of Tandag City on September 21 and Cantilan on September 24.

PNP Caraga director Chief Superintendent Gilberto Cruz thanked the members of the anti-drug abuse councils, the communities and all stakeholders which rendered assistance to the law enforcement agencies in the drug clearing operations.

He added that authorities would be relentless in their campaign to eradicate the drug menace not only in Surigao del Sur but also in other drug-affected communities in Caraga as well as maintain the drug-free status of the cleared areas.
