Man busted for illegal drugs, yielded P480,000 ‘shabu’

A MAN who yielded nearly P500,000 suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” was arrested in a sting operation inside a drive-in-hotel in Barangay Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City Thursday dawn, February 20.

Personnel of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) arrested Rio Belocuro, resident of Osmena Street, Barangay 26.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession were sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 60 grams with a worth about P480,000.

Police tagged the suspect as a high value individual after he yielded a big amount of dangerous drugs upon arrest.

He was also figured in the drug list of the police’s Directorate for Intelligence.

Lieutenant Colonel Mardy Hortillosa, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao, said the suspect’s activities has been monitored for almost a month including his supposed transactions in an inn.

“Ga-drive ni siya og taxi unya nasundan siya kay namonitor mani sa RDEU,”Hortillosa said.

However, the suspect has kept mum about his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade including his source and other activities.

The suspect is now detained and will face drug charges.
