Manhunt on vs assailant of 4ID soldier

POLICE launched a manhunt operation against an unidentified assailant who stabbed to death a soldier on Yakal-Lirio Streets, Cagayan de Oro City, Wednesday, January 22.

The victim was identified as Corporal Tony Hapas, a native of Jolo, Sulu, and an active member of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division (4ID).

Responding police personnel immediately brought the victim to the JR Borja General Hospital after they saw the victim almost lifeless and sprawled on the ground when they arrived at the crime scene.

The victim was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Hapas sustained two stab wounds on his chin and chest.

Recovered from the victim’s possession were 9mm pistol, ammunition, and motorcycle.

Investigators are still looking into the motives of the incident while collecting pieces of evidence and witnesses’ accounts.
