Mayor: Quarantine measures to remain in effect under modified GCQ

PJ Orias

MAYOR Oscar Moreno said the Cagayan de Oro City Government will continue to adopt the usual quarantine measures despite being reclassified as under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) starting June 1 until June 15.

Moreno said despite this "relaxation," measures will still be in place such as social distancing, face mask wearing, and hand washing, since Cagayan de Oro is still under quarantine.

Barangay Exit Passes will still remain in effect, he added.

"Ang ako sad, I would like to ask the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) to recognize the ability of the local government units under the Local Government Code to undertake measures which it is duty-bound to do, and these measures sa quarantine naa pa gihapon, naa lang relaxation," Moreno said in a press conference Thursday.

Moreno said he will not ask the IATF to reconsider its new classification, but will instead ask the task force to understand if adjustments will be made as may be necessary.

"But we will do that judiciously," he added.
