THE Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental, through its tourism department, is planning to transform the Cebu Pacific Flight 387 Shrine in Aposkahoy, Claveria town into an agriculture and tourism complex.

Lawyer Jeffrey Saclot, Provincial Tourism Department head, said the initial budget proposal allotted for the planned Misamis Oriental Agriculture and Tourism Complex will amount to around P10 million to P25 million.

"Part of the proceeds nga atong makuha gikan sa excise tax ibubu para pag put up sa atong project," Saclot said.

He said part of the project to transform the Cebu Pacific Flight 387 Shrine into Misamis Oriental Agriculture and Tourism Complex is putting up coffee shop, a view deck, and other facilities.

"I-transform nato siya into both agriculture and tourism site kay daghan ta gipangtanom nga mga bulak nga maanindot. Mahimo na siyang plastar kaayo nga tourist site ilabi na karon nga a lot of people muhapit diha kay diha naman sila moagi sa secondary road," Saclot said.

This year, the Provincial Government has a proposed P100 million budget allocated for the improvement of the tourist spots in Misamis Oriental, particularly the faith tourism eco tourism destinations.

"We bank on faith tourism destination sa Misamis Oriental apart from the eco tourism destination kay naila na man gud ang lalawigan nga daghan sya'g mga sacred places," Saclot said.

The provincial tourism department head shared that on the second quarter of 2019, the province has recorded an increase in the number of local and foreign tourists visiting Misamis Oriental, reaching a total of 2,197,580.

Apart from the well-known Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador, Saclot said they are expecting further increase in the number of tourists in the province, as the Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine and the healing pool in Binuangan town and the Christ The King in Gingoog City will be completed this year.
