NFA: Rice prices to stabilize soon

PJ Orias

PRICES of rice in the markets are expected to stabilize in the coming months as harvest season nears.

Ma. Celeste Gaabucayan, Misamis Oriental provincial manager of the National Food Authority (NFA), said prices of commercial rice in Bukidnon are starting to go down as some farmers already started harvesting.

Gaabucayan said the NFA is also making sure that NFA rice is always available in the markets.

“We have outlets in all markets here and we sell NFA rice at P32 per kilo,” she said.

The NFA statement complements Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol that the price of rice would soon stabilize with the start of the harvest season.

Prices of rice spiked in the last few months in some markets due to shortage of NFA rice supply in the public markets.
