No leads yet on shootout culprits

INVESTIGATORS are facing a blank wall in the killing of a head security guard of a subdivision in Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City, early Wednesday, April 3.

Police identified the victim as Aresteo Agbo, resident of St. Therese Subdivision, Balulang.

Initial investigation showed that the victim was on board his motorcycle when gunned down by unidentified gunmen around 7:00 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim succumbed to a lone gunshot wound to his neck and he did not get to the hospital alive.

Investigators recovered a fired cartridge case of an undetermined firearm at the crime scene.

Police Major Ian Borinanga, Police Station 4 chief, said a witness saw two men on board a motorcycle who were tailing the victim, but authorities could not conclude yet if they were the perpetrators.

"Naay nakakita nga gisundan ning biktima pero dili masiguro kung mao ba to sila ang nitira pag abot sa crime scene. Close range ang pagka-pusil," Borinaga said.

(There were witnesses who saw that the victim was followed, but they were not certain if those were the assailants when they arrived at the crime scene.)

Borinaga said they have yet to determine the motive but they are looking into work-related as angle of the shooting incident. He also said that the motivation for killing the victim can be work-related.

The victim's mobile phone was turned over to the police cyber crime unit to check whether there are messages that are helpful to the investigation.
