A TOTAL of 1,355 police personnel are deployed in various places of convergence across the region for the holidays, a Northern Mindanao police official said.

Lieutenant Colonel Mardy Hortillosa, Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao spokesperson, said the police officers are deployed in terminals and checkpoints all over the region as part of its campaign "Ligtas Paskuhan 2019."

As of Thursday, December 19, there are still no Christmas-related incidents recorded in all police stations in the region, such as illegal discharge of firearms, illegal possession of firecrackers, among others.

Hortillosa said the police force is on full alert not only because of the Christmas celebrations but also for possible attacks by the New People's Army (NPA) ahead of their founding anniversary on December 26.

Hortillosa appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any illegal or suspicious activity in their communities. (PJ Orias)
