Oro activities set for ‘Himugso 2019’

A WEEK-LONG celebration dubbed as “Himugso: Birthing a city, a nation and tomorrow” is set by the City Government of Cagayan de Oro to commemorate the 121st Philippine Independence Day and the 69th Charter Day of the city.

The celebration will open with a tour at Xavier University’s Museo de Oro, Capitol University’s Museum of Three Cultures, Liceo de Cagayan’s La Castilla Lifestyle Museum, and the City Museum on June 10.

On June 12, a flag raising ceremony will take place at the Kiosko Kagawasan in Divisoria to mark the Independence Day, to be followed by the city heritage sites’ walking tour at 3 p.m. and Rising and Express The Voice Box at Limketkai Rotunda at 4 p.m.

A Himugso Cultural Show, Cagay-Iyang, will be performed in Centrio Ayala Mall on June 13.

On June 15, City Mayor Oscar Moreno will deliver his Annual Report for 2019 to mark the City Charter Day. In the afternoon, the opening of the Ginama Outlet Store at the Gaston Park and the Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (Cohara) Food Cart.

The celebrations will end on June 16 with a Freedom Run by Circle Production in Limketkai Center in the morning and the Rancillo Specialty Road Show and Mindanao Flair in the event center of Limketkai Mall in the afternoon.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
