Oro Christmas events kick off with ‘Pasko de Oro’

PJ Orias

THE Cagayan de Oro City Government has launched on Monday the annual Pasko de Oro, which marks the start of the Christmas season.

On December 3, a Christmas parade will be held and will feature the Pasko Rela, a holiday-themed "Dress Up Your Own Motorela" competition conducted yearly here.

City Administrator Teddy Sabuga-a said Pasko Rela is one of the city's highlights during this season as it honors the most common public transportation in Cagayan de Oro, the motorela.

Sabuga-a said its uniqueness represents the people of the city.

On the same day, the city will also launch the ceremonial switching of the Symphony of Lights, the Christmas lights displayed in front of the City Hall.

Just like last year, it will run from December 1 until February next year, for the Chinese New Year.

The project is called Symphony of Lights because aside from the changing lights it produces, a music will also be played to accompany it.

On December 5, a chorale competition will also be held participated by different groups.
