A TOTAL of 478 packs of processed meat products were seized by Cagayan de Oro City's Anti-African Swine Fever (ASF) Task Force from three online sellers on Monday, August 10.

Of the 478 packs, 216 contain chicken chorizo, 109 are pork chorizo, 52 are pork tocino, 95 are pork longganisa, three are pork siomai, and three are beef chorizo.

The confiscated goods, according to the City Veterinary Office, are worth P34,000.

The aforementioned items, the City Veterinary Office said, were confiscated for violation of the Executive Order 172, which prohibits the entry of hogs, all fresh/frozen pork meat, and processed pork products from Luzon, Davao, and other identified ASF-affected areas in the country and abroad.

All of the seized pork products were from Davao.

The products were burned at the Balubal Stock Farm.

City Veterinarian Dr. Lucien Anthony Acac warned online sellers and the consumers to stop patronizing pork products from ASF-affected areas.

"Let us help keep Cagayan de Oro ASF-free," Acac said.

The City Anti-ASF Task Force reminds online sellers to register their business to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and apply for a business permit from the city hall.

The task force also urged online sellers to patronize locally-produced meat.
