Soldier killed in motorcycle mishap

AN ARMY soldier died while his wife was injured after figuring in an accident while traversing a slippery road in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City Tuesday, October 8.

Police identified the victim as Sergeant Jonell Montederamos, an active member of the Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry Division (4ID) in Camp Evangelista, Barangay Patag.

Police Major Evan Vinas said the victim was riding a motorcycle with his wife along Gemilina Street, Barangay Carmen, when they slipped. Vinas said Montederamos’ head hit the cemented road directly because of the impact of the accident.

Montederamos’ wife Rosaly only sustained minor injury.

Heavy rains poured over Cagayan de Oro Tuesday afternoon due to the localized thunderstorms. The rain persisted for about two hours causing some areas to flood.

Vinas, meanwhile, reminds the motorists to always prioritize safety and to drive carefully especially during bad weather.
