AN ANGRY mob surrounded the police station in Puntod after operatives arrested the suspect in the brutal killing of a gas station cashier whose body was found inside a sack and thrown into a septic tank over the weekend.

The victim was identified as Rachelle Manahan, 33, resident of Block 4, Barangay Puntod, while the suspect was identified as 40-year-old Daniel Bagobaldo.

The mob, mostly residents in the nearby area, had captured Bagobaldo and beat him before the police arrived.

The suspect sustained injuries on his face and parts of his body. He will likely be charged with murder.

Investigation showed that the victim was reported missing on Monday, July 22.

Footage from a security camera showed the victim was driving her bicycle on her way home when the suspect chased, beat and put her inside a sack.

Authorities raised the possibility that the victim was raped after she was found naked.

Police Captain Jac Llanita, Police Station 5 chief, said witnesses saw the suspect run away fast when investigators arrived at the crime scene.

"While we are investigating and waiting for the Soco, nakita ang iyang pagdagan busa amo siyag gilakag ug na-corner sa may coastal road," Llanita said.

Police said pieces of evidence were discovered inside the room of the suspect.

"Posible usab nga duna pa kini lain nabiktima (It’s possible that there was another victim)," police said.
