Woman, 82, is 63rd Covid-19 death in Oro

AN 82-YEAR-OLD female from Barangay Carmen who was one of the 62 new confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Cagayan de Oro City died on Monday, October 19.

The woman was the 63rd Covid-19 mortality in the city.

City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said Saturday, October 24, that the woman had an onset of body malaise and anorexia on October 16.

She went to the JR Borja General Hospital around 4 p.m. of October 19 due to sudden cough and shortness of breath.

The 82-year-old woman died around 10:20 p.m. of October 19. Her final diagnosis include community-acquired pneumonia (moderate risk), chronic kidney disease, coronary artery disease, and cardiomegaly hypertensive.

Retuya said the woman was swabbed post mortem and the result came out positive.

Her remains were cremated around 7 a.m. of October 20.

The City Health Office identified seven close contacts of the woman, one of whom is already at the city isolation unit.

Cagayan de Oro has recorded a total of 1,434 confirmed cases of Covid-19, wherein 351 are returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs), and 1,083 cases are local transmissions.
