Lynde Salgados

BALLPALS 1991, or the pioneering members of Ballpals, will see action in the opener of the club’s 28th Anniversary Inter-Color basketball tournament this afternoon, March 16 at the Don Gregorio Perlaez Sports Center in Cagayan de Oro City.

Akong mensahe sa tanan nga samtang makadagan pa kamo... ayaw gyod undangi ang dula nga basketbol,” said the 50-something tournament commissioner Andit Mendoza.

Leading the 90s cast are Jojo Udasco, Fernando Abapo, Manny Villanueva, Dandan Guevara, Joven Agudo, Bado Legaspi, Stev Panaz and Bong Mercado.

More than 100 players participate in the anniversary tourney supported by Abamin through Representative Rufus Rodriguez and Misamis Oriental Governor Bambi Emano for jersey shirts and the use of the open court playing venue.

Mendoza said there will be four teams each in 39-below and 40-up civic categories composed of at least 13 players, respectively.

Acting club president Weng Mercado said after the afternoon games, Ballpals family will have something to share at nearby BORJ Tuna along Tiano-del Pilar streets.

Happy all lang ‘ta sa atong 28th Anniversary celebration,” Mercado said.
