CEBU CITY--Two Cagayan de Oro boxers took the exit door after losing in their respective debuts on day two of the 2018 Philippine National Games boxing event at the New Cebu Coliseum.

The Oro boxers started strong in the first night on Monday. But on Tuesday, Wesley Caga and Martin Pule Caspe got booted out.

Caga lost to RP Boxing Team member Junmilardo Ogayre of Davao City via split decision in the youth men’s bantamweight.

The same with Caspe who bowed out to Banayawan’s Daryl Canedo in their youth men’s welterweight fight.

Mark Lester Durens was the team’s lone winner that night.

It was Durens’ second straight win after defeating his fellow teammate James Ian Solis Pangga for a quarterfinal seat in the youth men’s light flyweight.

Six other Oro boxers were fighting on their first matches as of this writing yesterday.

Three of them--Mark Lumbab, Jorge Nues and Jena Baja--are also members of the Philippine Boxing Team.

John Ignatius Macas eyes a quarterfinal berth, while John Paul Panuayan and Elay Pamisa were among the neophytes in PNG’s boxing competition.
